TIPS ON HOW TO DEAL WITH QUARANTINE TO GET THE MOST OUT OF IT

Updated: May 4, 2020

The fact is, we are all in it. The whole world. Public gatherings are not allowed, schools, dance schools and fitness centers closed, most of the people are trapped inside their homes, including YOU, teachers and instructors. It might look bad at first glance, but here are some tips on how to look at it from a pinky perspective and make the most out of it.

TIP Nr. 1 - ACTIVE IS ATTRACTIVE

I know it might be veeeery intriguing to stay home and do, well, nothing.. BUT! It will be so much more effective if you stay active! Your worst enemy in this time is giving in to times of nothing to do. Go beyond that – be more active than before. I realized we have been given this amazing opportunity to have more time to work on ourselves and not just work for others. We have TIME to workout at home, we have time to practice new moves, we have time to be creative. Seize that. Do what you never could do in your normal-busy-overworking-longhours life. Turn on your bigscreen TV, turn off news and put on some good Youtube workouts (I'll be sharing some links in further posts).

TIP Nr. 2 - WELCOME MASTERS TO YOUR HOME

Dude, social media have literary been flooded with free and low-cost online classes! It has been incredible to see how sooo many international presenters, teachers, instructors went online and started doing classes for literary everyone in this world. No need to travel abroad to see someone teach, you can do it at home! And most of them will be immensely happy if you share your trials and errors on social media, they will comment, share and support you. It's a win-win. A lot of them have had and are still having free classes on social media, so it doesn't even cost a lot, some are taking donations, so you can give whatever you can give and some have set prices which are far lower compared to normal live classes + travel expenses. So just go and do it. Work on yourself and feel better, freshly inspired and always fit.

TIP Nr 3 - BROADEN YOUR HORIZONS

What makes someone a master is constant learn and practice. But true masters never stay only in their field of expertise. They go out of their known comfort zone into fields where they are only beginners and learn from masters in that field. So, if you are teaching dance fitness classes, go and do some functional fitness class. If you are teaching salsa, go do an aerobics class. If you are a personal trainer, go and do a dance class. Why? Because it will give you a new perspective. You might find teaching methods from other genre more effective and later use it in your work. You might find extra strengths from fitness training will make you a better dancer. And so on. Go into a little bit unknown and grow from there. You will come out stronger than ever.

TIP Nr. 4 - DON'T WHINE, GO ONLINE

Every difficult time requires creative solutions. And whoever turns quicker is the first to prosper from new situation. So I recommend you don't »wait till this is over«, I recommend you go and adjust to a situation, even if it's just temporary. Working online will help you stay in touch with your clients and it will cover two of the previous tips: stay active and broaden your horizons. I've been doing online classes since Day 1 of Quarantine, no free time. And I will be sharing some good tips on how to start teaching online in further posts. Stay tuned.

TIP Nr. 5 - BEST HEALTHY FOOD IS GRATITUDE

In the past weeks and months surely we have all fallen under the feelings of fear, hopelessness, anger, despair or any other. It was a new situation for everyone and those are normal human reactions. Some get scared of the virus itself, some get scared of restrictions, some get scared of loneliness, some get scared for their existence. Then we might have heard many conspiracy theories on why this is happening and who is really responsible, what is behind all this, we fell into feelings of not having control of things, on being deceived, manipulated, held hostages almost, feeling warlike emotions etc. Yet all of us, who are thankfully healthy, are living a different life but with many blessings in disguise. We spend less time on road and more time with close family members, we might have more time to read books, we are all baking bread and teaching our kids to do it, we might be pissed about all the school work, but we also get to see how our kids understand school work and how they really cope with it, we don't get to see all our friends and relatives, but we have a chance to talk with them via numerous available devices. I love how people are getting creative and joke on the circumstances we are in, I've had some really good laugh on this. And I think our pets love that we spend so much time at home with them (even though everybody wants to take the dog out 5 times per day now :) ). I think it's safe to feel calm and at peace, it's okay to see this time as a time to prosper, develop, recharge and take a different perspective on life. It will only bring us closer to our true nature and authentic happiness.

So count your blessings fellow instructors. If you have your health, enough yiest and toillet paper, you're good. :)

Are you living by this tips as well?
